Backups are essential for safeguarding your website against data loss or accidental changes. Plesk makes it easy to create and manage backups for your website files. Follow these steps to ensure your data is secure.
Step 1: Log in to Plesk #
- Open your web browser and go to the Plesk login page.
- Enter your credentials and click Log in.

Step 2: Navigate to the Backup Manager #
- In the Plesk dashboard, go to the Websites & Domains section.
- Select the domain for which you want to create a backup.
- Click on Backup Manager under the domain settings.
Step 3: Create a New Backup #
- In the Backup Manager, click on Back Up to start the process.
- Configure the backup settings:
- Backup Content: Select what to back up (e.g., entire account, specific files, or databases).
- Store in: Choose to save the backup on the server or an external storage location.
- Type: Select Full (entire data) or Incremental (only changed data).
- Email Notification: Optionally, enable email alerts when the backup is completed.
- Click OK to initiate the backup.
Step 4: Manage Existing Backups #
- After the backup is complete, it will appear in the Backup Manager list.
- You can:
- Download: Save a copy of the backup to your local computer.
- Restore: Click Restore to revert your website to a previous state.
- Delete: Remove old backups to free up storage space.
Step 5: Automate Backups #
- In the Backup Manager, click Scheduled Backup Settings.
- Configure the schedule:
- Set the frequency (e.g., daily, weekly).
- Specify the time and date for the backup.
- Define the number of backups to retain to manage storage usage.
- Click OK to save the schedule.
